We are thrilled to announce that FEWLS has been awarded an NSF EPSCoR Research grant for the project titled "Understanding the effects of tunable media on mass transport during catalytic conversion of polyolefins". This project aims to tackle the environmental challenges posed by legacy plastics by exploring how tunable media can enhance the transport properties and catalytic conversion of polyethylene (PE) into hydrocarbon fuels. Utilizing advanced in situ/operando spectroscopy tools, the research will provide molecular-level insights into the transformations during catalytic conversion, potentially leading to more efficient recycling processes.
This award will also foster academic partnerships, support STEM workforce development, and enhance Kansas' competitiveness in securing federal and industrial research funding.
